Earlier this month a few of us got together in the lounge of Social Residence Sagamihara to play a fighting videogame called “Persona 4 Arena Ultrimax” It’s a long name but the Japanese name is even longer! In Japan the game is called “Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold”. The game features characters from the role playing games, “Persona 4” and “Persona 3” who are brought together for an original story. The word “persona” means that each character can summon a monster / creature to help them fight. It is somehow a reflection of the character’s interests and personality so it’s called a “persona”.
All in all there are twenty characters but you have to pay extra to use three of them.
None of us had experience playing the game before, but over the course of a few hours we managed to find our favorite characters and get some practice learning how to use them. My favorite character ended up being Elizabeth.
And here’s a view of what the actual game looks like:
As you can see it’s a 2D fighting game. The characters are hand drawn and 3D backgrounds are used. It’s a very slick art style with high presentation values.
I hope to gather some people to play again in August. If you are in neighborhood I hope you can join us. 🙂
