Rainy Season into August / 梅雨長いのう 2020.07.26
Was rainy season this long in Japan?
梅雨ってこんなに長かったっけ？
In the past several years, I was either in my hometown Okinawa or California during summer.
考えれば去年までの5、6年、わたしはずっと地元・沖縄かカリフォルニアで夏を迎えてきた。
In Okinawa rainy seasons usually end before the end of June.
沖縄の梅雨はたいてい6月末には終わる。
There is no real rainy season in California (wind fires be wilding somewhere every day around this time of the year due to extreme heat and dryness)
カリフォルニアには、梅雨と呼べるような梅雨がなかった。なんせ、極度の熱波と乾燥でこの時期には山火事が毎日どっかで暴れているのだ。
As an Okinawan Native, I am okay with humidity. I am okay with squalls, but it's all the cloudiness and indecisive rain.
沖縄育ちのわたしは、湿気には強い。スコールが降ったって構わない。でも、この曇とはっきりしない雨。
They must be the reason why this season feels so long. I'm so ready to welcome the sun.
これだ。こいつらが梅雨をこんなに長く感じさせてるに違いない。こ ちとらとっくにお天道様お迎えの準備は整っている。
In fact I dance every day in the gym in my sharehouse to hail the sun (jk--I dance for a hobby).
なんせ毎晩シェアハウスのジムでお日様を呼び寄せるべく踊っている（※普通に趣味です）
Corona situations are already depressive enough for the most, so at least the weather should turn bright for us all... I will dance again tonight hoping that would bring some sunshine.
コロナ禍で世の中大半はとっくに(´・ω・｀)なのだ。せめて天気だけでも明るくなってはくれないか。多分今夜もちょっと期待しながら踊る。
I do acknowledge though, a hilly town with well-kept streets is definitely something to appreciate during this season.
でもまあ、生け垣や緑道まで整備が行き届いた丘の街には、この季節こそ風情があったりもする。それは、認めよう。
